FIELD NOTES / METHOD

Build a comparison you can explain

The original source application offered a three-machine comparison bench. This edition preserves that interaction while narrowing its factual display to three profiles checked against manufacturer documentation.

Choose a question before choosing a winner

For a desk setup, list the displays, cables and peripherals you need. For travel, record the carried computer, charger and accessories. For a course or workflow, list required software and ask its publisher about the intended platform. These are investigation prompts, not compatibility guarantees.

Compare equivalent evidence

Keep manufacturer battery claims separate from review measurements. Apple's pages describe their battery methods; the profile labels preserve that attribution. A higher advertised hour count should not be treated as a measured advantage across unrelated methods.

Capture the complete purchase context

Record a dated seller price, currency, configuration, condition, warranty and return window. Check whether a dock, charger or storage upgrade belongs in your budget. This candidate deliberately has no price comparison because no current offer was verified.

Document your remaining questions

Before buying, resolve missing memory capacity, display specification, port capability and service history. Leave an unresolved question visible instead of filling it with an assumption. The bench is a starting worksheet, not personalized purchase advice.
