FIELD NOTES / METHOD
Read a specification without inventing a verdict
A model name describes a family; a useful comparison describes a configuration. The supplied research reports organize laptops by family, year, workload and price. This guide keeps that useful structure while holding their uncorroborated numeric claims.
Write down the configuration first
Copy the processor identity, installed memory, storage capacity, display option and ports from the exact listing. Keep the manufacturer's product page beside it. Mark a field unknown when the listing omits it; do not borrow a value from a similarly named machine.
Separate options from the installed unit
The checked MacBook Air profiles list memory and storage configurations from Apple documentation. A range of options does not mean every option is installed. Use the comparison bench as a checklist, then replace ranges with the seller's confirmed values.
Keep three evidence layers separate
- Manufacturer specification: what the documented model supports.
- Seller configuration: what the offered unit actually contains.
- Independent test: what a named reviewer measured, under stated conditions.
No independent test results or current offers were validated in this candidate. A specification difference is not, by itself, a performance ranking.
